This beautiful Caribbean Island is many tourists favourite, because of its sheer beauty and wonderful topography, with gorgeous golden sandy beaches and the wonderful historic English Harbour seaside port. The Island is one of the largest within the Antigua and Barbuda Islands. The Marina & Dockyard at English Harbour is a UNESCO WORLD Heritage Site, there is a great Museum there too. Incredible to think that Admiral Nelson made this venue his base in the 1780s. The Island is surrounded by coral reefs and has a population of 80,000 only. There are two golf courses on the Island, which are not Championship courses but fun to play for sure, very scenic indeed, the golf is secondary to the stunning island and its scenery and beaches. Only British Airways fly direct to Antigua and the flight duration is 8 hours only. BA offer 3 classes Economy, Premium Economy and Club World.
There are normally 3 – 4 flights per week from London Gatwick only.
The best weather is prevalent between mid-December and the end of April, which are the peak periods for a holiday. The temperature will be circa 26-27 degrees on average all year round. The wettest month of the year is October, to be avoided perhaps, although it is still lovely and warm. Best sunshine hours will be in the month of June, which is also a great time to come and low season prices. January is a very popular and lovely month of the year also.
The local currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar and there are circa 4.00 ECD = £1.00, we don’t recommend you bring any ECD currency in advance, just bring US Dollars and you can if you want just change into local currency whilst in resort on the Island of Antigua.
