Golf Holidays To Jamaica
Jamaica is the largest island in the Caribbean located in the West Indies, it lies west of the island of Puerto Rico, it is a lot further west than the other islands such as Barbados, St Lucia, Nevis etc.
The island is now re-established as one the IN places to visit for the ultimate golf and or leisure holiday. Jamaica is incredibly lush and beautiful, particularly in the middle of the island, in the highland regions.
There are two airports, one at the capital Kingston, located down in the south east, which is 2.5 hours’ drive to our chosen resort venue Half Moon and Montego Bay airport in the north-west of the island, just 20 minute’s transfer to Half Moon Resort.
Jamaica has a lush topography of mountains, rainforests and reef-lined beaches. Many of the best luxury and all-inclusive resorts are to be found in Montego Bay, with its British-colonial architecture and Negril, known for its diving and snorkelling sites. Jamaica is famed as the birthplace of reggae music and its capital Kingston is home to the Bob Marley Museum, dedicated to the famous singer.
We think Half Moon, which once was the best place in the Caribbean before Sandy Lane gained its fine reputation, will be back to the very best again following substantial reinvestment plans. It has always been our own favourite place. By November 2018 it will be absolutely stunning following a $75 million investment, without affecting the day to day operation until that time.
Although there are some charter flights to Montego Bay, with big companies like Thomson and Thomas Cook from airports like Manchester and sometimes Glasgow, we would highly recommend taking the Virgin Atlantic flight from London Gatwick to Montego Bay.
Virgin offer 3 cabins, including Premium Economy and Upper Class. For customers who prefer British Airways, you can choose their flight to Kingston from London Gatwick, but this will require a 2.5 hour land transfer on arrival. The advantage of this is that you get to see the most beautiful parts of the island on the way to the resort. The new motorway from Ochos Rios makes the journey about 1 hour quicker than it was before 2016!
