The El Cortijo Golf Resort is located just 12 minutes from the city of Las Palmas, which is the capital of Gran Canaria, an ancient city with lots of character and a fabulous place to enjoy evenings out exploring local restaurant venues in the old town, amidst orange trees and plazas, with cobbled streets. The airport is also very close with only a 15-20-minute transfer required. If you fancy a day at the beach, or exploring other courses, Maspalomas is 25 minutes’ drive further south by motorway.
The hotel is a boutique property with just 18 bedrooms, but has a unique charm, as it is an 18th century mansion, set in extensive gardens with tropical vegetation and stunning centenary palm trees close to an impressive outdoor pool and adjacent to a top championship golf course. El Cortijo Golf Club hosted the Spanish Open, won by Sergio Garcia in 2002. This is a charming rural hotel, a place for a couple who love their golf, enjoy the traditional character of the old-style hotel property, which has so much style and character.
Although the hotel has no spa, it does have some super facilities including a gymnasium, 11 tennis courts, 14 paddle tennis courts and impressive horse riding centre. Of course, it also has a championship golf course, pro-shop, golf academy and driving range, with a restaurant also in the clubhouse.
Directors Tip – We would recommend dining out in the evenings in Las Palmas and take a taxi into the old town, a superb experience – perhaps eat in the clubhouse restaurant on your first evening. This hotel is ideal for golf fanatics who enjoy an intimate boutique hotel where ambience and tradition is more important than a wide array of amenities.[
