SINGAPORE

Six Senses Maxwell

five-gold-stars

SIX SENSES MAXWELL

This stylish designer boutique hotel is one of our favourite properties in Singapore. Heritage building meets pizzazz, the hotel was designed by the famous French interior designer Jacques Garcia and this is one of his masterpieces. The hotel has a unique flavour and character, highlighted by the exquisitely designed Library Restaurant and the elegance of the cocktail bar and lounge bars. The hotel is in a quiet avenue on Cook Street, just on the edge of Chinatown, very close to a plethora of superb bars and restaurants, you have the best of both worlds, this is a really good location as it is not far from the city centre of Singapore as well. The Six Senses Maxwell oozes class and sophistication, with very attentive and professional staff. The cuisine is first class including very special breakfasts which are mainly served a la carte. On the 4th floor there is a roof garden pool area and the hotel also has spa pods where you can enjoy excellent massage and holistic treatments. The hotel has beautiful décor and a lot of crimson colours which dominate the public areas. The Merchant and Merchant deluxe rooms are beautifully appointed and stylish without being particularly large. The nearby Six Senses Duxton Hotel is only a 7 minute walk and offers another dining venue with super ambience and you can dine here and charge back to your room at the Maxwell.

The Sentosa Golf Club is located about 20 minutes drive away from the Six Senses Maxwell and the Laguna National is about 35 minutes drive, although we realise that our customers may just want to enjoy the City rather than golf in Singapore.

Singapore is the perfect placed to stop over for a few nights before heading on to

Bintan Island and or Langkawi Island in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Bintan is accessible by a passenger ferry in less than 1 hour from Singapore.

Fullerton Bay is the perfect complement to a staying at The Sanchaya on Bintan, or The Datai on Langkawi.

The hotel has a small Spa, Roof-Top pool relaxation area, cocktail and a lounge bar, the Brasserie restaurant, the Cook & Tras Social Library restaurant, 138 bedrooms.

There are 138 bedrooms, including Merchant doubles, Merchant deluxe doubles, Maxwell Studio rooms and  Maxwell Suites. They are beautifully designed rooms by Jacques Garcia, even the cheapest rooms, although only 28 square metres, they are pure luxury, with very nice beds and stylish bathrooms. We would recommend paying a little more for a Merchant deluxe room.

The golf in Singapore is some of the very best in Asian Golf, there are a number of lesser known courses which we do not mention, but the two outstanding highlights are the two 36-hole private golf clubs.

Sentosa Golf Club

The Sentosa Golf Club on Sentosa Island has the mouth-watering Serapong and Tanjong courses, both of which host major Men’s and Women’s Professional Tournaments including the HSBC.

Serapong is the longer course and the best of the best, absolutely immaculate condition and with some of the most impressive backdrops back to the main island of Singapore across Marina Bay and the Skyscrapers in the financial district. The course is a brilliant design and features plenty of water hazards and vast bunkering to break up the emerald green fairways, tees and greens. The Tanjong is a little shorter, but equally eye catching with awesome backdrops, a little less hilly perhaps and more aimed at the higher handicap or senior golfer because of its length. Playing golf here is very expensive and very exclusive, an absolute dream venue, accessed via a road bridge from the main Singapore Island.

Laguna National Golf Club

Laguna National, as of Autumn 2019 is undergoing an exciting project, with its own luxury 5-star hotel being built in the midst of the courses, which is destined to open in late Spring mid-summer 2020. The courses here are superb, the Masters Course and the Classic Course combine very well. The Classic is more links style with less trees, lots of man-made mounding, tough raised links style greens with run off areas. The course is exciting and stadium style, with superb bunkering and lots of exhilarating water features, especially on the par 3s and indeed on some of the longer par 5 holes.

The Masters Course is probably an easier design, but an absolute beauty, terrific varied design it is always interesting and challenging, with many elevated tees and interesting terrain and dog legs, or holes over water. A sublime test of golf. By late 2020 we would expect the new Thusit Hotel to be open and the clubhouse to be open and it looks like it will be extremely plush and contemporary.

Hi David

Thank you so much for all your input and obtaining the upgrade, if there are any problems I will let you know but I am sure there won’t be.

We are just leaving six senses which we have really enjoyed and the 1/2 day tour of Singapore was superb.

Only down side was that my luggage unfortunately didn’t get on the flight at Heathrow, after a few phone calls it arrived last night.

A lovely warm and sunny day here today, looking forward to playing some golf without 3 layers of clothing!

Best regards
