The Andaman Resort

The hotel lies beside the award-winning beach of the Datai Langkawi, regarded by National Geographic Magazine as the 9th best beach in the world. To be honest it would be hard to find another hotel in a more idyllic location anywhere on the planet!

The Andaman is the less expensive resort venue to the Datai, which is about 500 metres further down the same stretch of beach on the Andaman Sea.

The two resorts share the same golf course located just 3 minutes away by a car transfer shuttle from the hotel lobby. The magical Rain Forest Course is called the Els Club Tulek, one of the top 10 courses in Asia.

The Andaman has 178 bedrooms and is split between two distinct wings, the Rain Forest North Wing and the Ocean View South Wing, where the deluxe sea view rooms have delicious views across the Bay, the Beach and the Andaman Sea and the islands beyond.

The resort has 4 dining venues and a unique agreement with the Datai whereby you can dine out at their hotel as well, just a 2 minutes transfer from the Andaman or a short walk along the Beach. There is an excellent seafood, fresh fish dining venue called the Jala, a Japanese veue, a Malaya spice restaurant and a Mediterranean Fusion main restaurant at the high part of the hotel.

The staff at the hotel are very friendly and welcoming and one of the hotels best assets is the Botanical Spa which is located in a wonderful high location in total tranquillity, with partially al fresco treatment cabins, with stunning sea and beach views. From this location you have the very best view of the entire resort.

In addition to golfing and sun bathing we would highly recommend getting involved with the nature walks in the Rain Forest adjacent and learning about the Coral restoration programme the hotel are actively involved with.

The Andaman peak season period is Christmas and New Year and then for the period January to March when the weather is at its very best and there is less humidity.

There are plenty of excellent offers, including 7 nights for the price of 5 nights and early booking discounts of 10%.

We would recommend a minimum length stay of 10 nights with no more than 7 rounds of golf, as there is much else to do on the resort.

For the best possible offer please send us your requested dates.

The resort has 178 bedrooms, with Sea, or Rain Forest views. There are 4 main dining and lunch venues including fish/sea food, Malay Spice, Mediterranean and a Japanese restaurant. There are extensive pool and sun bathing terraces, tropical gardens, an impressive Beach Club,3 Bars including a Beach Cocktail Bar and Lobby Bar, there are good water-sport amenities and one of the main highlight facilities is the excellent Botanical Spa high up on a cliff top amidst the Rain forest. 18 hole golf course 5 minute’s away.

The hotel has two wings, the North and South which are dominated by Rain Forest or Ocean views. The lead in room categories are nice quality bedrooms without being wow, the bathrooms are relatively small, but the sea view bedrooms have balcony with stunning sea views especially from floors 3 and 4.  We highly recommend paying the supplement for sea view. The best rooms are the swim up terrace doubles in the Rain Forest Wing because you have access to an infinity pool and can walk straight from your room to the pool terraces or the beach, ideal. Also, the Executive Pool Suites especially in the South Wing are superb and have a large bedroom and living area, together with as much space outside including lovely decking sun bathing area and you own large plunge pool from where you have a great sea view.

The Els Tulek Rain Forest course is an absolute gem, one of Asia’s top 10 golf courses. Renovated between 2017-2018 it is now re-established as an amazing championship course and unrivalled in terms of location. There is no other course on the planet that is designed inside a Rain Forest environment quite like here, offering holes that snake their way up into the jungle and down again to the ocean, the Andaman Sea. The golf course thrills the senses on every twist and turn, positioning of the tee shot is paramount as there are many dog leg par 4 and par 5 holes, none better than the uphill par 5 12th. The hum and the buzz of the Rain Forest’s bird life and wild life gives you a constant and unique thrilling feeling.

There are so many great holes, but the 5th to the 8th excel, with 2 great par 5 holes in a row at 7 and 8, whilst the back nine get even stronger. The 10th to the 17th are particularly impressive and exciting, holes 14-16 are just brilliant designed holes. This is a once in a lifetime must play experience and Ernie Els has done a very fine job.

Els Tulek is managed by Troon Golf so is maintained to the highest of standards.
