Gloria Serenity Resort

INTRODUCTION TO THE VENUE

The Gloria Serenity opened in 2005 and has been one of the very top three resorts in Belek ever since and without any blips, Serenity is one of three hotels on the larger Gloria Estate at the far eastern end of Belek, a trio which includes Gloria Golf Resort and Gloria Verde Resort, which are less expensive hotels, but enjoy the similar high service and F&B levels. Gloria Serenity has always been the flagship of the portfolio, but all three venues share the same benefits in terms of access to all the prime tee times on their Gloria Old, Gloria New and Gloria Verde courses, which all operate from one prestigious clubhouse, just 5 minutes transfer from the Gloria Serenity Hotel. Gloria courses are virtually closed for non-resident guests, you can only access times from about 14.00 hrs!! And at a much higher green fee anyway! Resident rates are the best value of all the resorts in Belek which is worth highlighting!

Serenity Resort

Gloria Serenity is definitely regarded as the most desirable piece of real estate in Belek, the verdant gardens which surround the property give it a feel of being far more natural and relaxing than many of the other massive concrete buildings which are a feature style of many of its competitors, it is also considerably smaller and although not boutique, you never feel that you are in a crowded environment within the resort, simply because of its unique architecture, extensive gardens and enjoyable relaxing walk down across the bridge over the river which lies between the hotel grounds and the impressive beach and pier.

Most of our customers prefer this style of resort, where the amazing staff make you feel welcome and remember you from previous visits, because they have such brilliant customer service training and staff retention this looks after itself, they are a joy to behold.

The Gloria Serenity Resort reopened on 8 April 2023 following an extensive face lift and upgrade, following several months of closure through the winter period of 2022-23. We will explain in our next section the new highlights and features of the new look Gloria Serenity Resort.

THE INVESTMENT IN THE RENOVATION OF GLORIA SERENITY RESORT
WHAT’S NEW & WHAT ARE THE HIGHLIGHTS?

The approximate spend on the new restyling of Gloria Serenity has cost in the region of 81 million euros, which is in relative terms a very impressive capital reinvestment and has perhaps put the venue on top of the tree in the quality stakes in Belek once again, after a period of about 10 years when it has trailed behind the main two competitors, albeit it has always offered far better value for money than the other properties.

The accommodation has all been entirely redesigned in the interiors of all the bedrooms in the 2 wings of the hotel, A block and B block, the rooms have a completely new look and feel, much brighter and with a lot more electronic controls, the rooms are now cool, chic and contemporary, featuring new beds, new furniture, new cupboards and storage, new flooring and brand new mirror TVs, with a lot more use of mirrors which makes the rooms seem larger, for certain.

The new rooms opened in B block on 8 April, with the A block opening between 26 April and 1 May, ready for the busier summer season which kicks off in May.

In addition, the luxurious Villas on the Gloria Serenity Estate will all have a massive upgrade and facelift by June 2023, these luxury units are aimed at the family market, mostly 3 and 2 bedrooms, our favourite are the 3-bedroom pool villas, which have always been outstanding and are designed around a wonderful massive lagoon pool.

The new look Gloria Serenity has seen the main circular building, which has always encompassed the main lobby, the main bars and the main restaurants, now been replicated with a second floor above the existing structure and this section, which is extremely ambitious and eye catching will feature an addition of a second lobby bar, an Argentinian steak house named Fuego, a premium Chef’s a la carte fine dining venue, which will be 100% chargeable, a Turkish Barbecue restaurant, The Estella 24 hour restaurant, a chocolate shop and patisserie and a children’s activity supervised area, which will allow diners to leave their children close by with professional child carers, whilst the adults enjoy the best fine dining venues, close by.

Looking down to the existing floor there have been some significant changes, which include the new Irish Polo Bar opening by 28 April 23 and big improvements to the Japanese Restaurant now called AKA, which will incorporate a Tepinayake table for the first time, these venues will be considered prime supplement restaurants, varying from 30 – 50 euros cover charge, as we think will the Fuego Argentinian Steakhouse on the new higher floor.

Out in the gardens of the Gloria Serenity you will see that there has been a new pool created at the rear side in the gardens of Block B, which is a massive new highlight, with a well serviced bar adjacent, ideal for families, not wanting to go to the Beach, or Pier and very close to the main hotel rooms.

There have been some casualties in that some outlets are no more, the Turkish Restaurant on the existing floor has been replaced by a vast new gymnasium adjacent to the Spa entrance. The Wall Street Bar has gone too, no doubt we have missed some other smaller changes.

HIGHLIGHT EXISTING RESTAURANTS & BARS

The French Restaurant called Le Jardin au Printemps continues to be very popular in the existing circular main floor, during the summertime with the added attraction of some new decking down on the riverside, whilst the Italian continues to be open through lunchtime and into the evening, a popular venue called La Trattoria Romana. This venue gives you a lovely al fresco dining outlet and magical ambience, as does the newly renovated Fish Restaurant down on the Riverside, offering extensive decking and larger capacity than we remember from our own past visits. They have also completely upgraded their fish menu for summer 2023.

We love the Traces Bar and Restaurant almost on the beach, which is a magnet during the lunch time and mid to late afternoon periods, set on the Beachside of the River. Here you can enjoy a wide array of cold and hot foods and not just snacks, it is a perfect environment, ideal to visit, post golf, or post a swim in the sea. The Pier which reopens by May 2023 has had a facelift also and has decking and sunbathing areas and a cool bar to match. The ideal spot to jump into the sea from, with ladders to get back up and dry off.

The main existing Lobby Bar called the Ella Fitzgerald Bar has had a refresh and is a great place to end your evening with an Oval shaped cocktail bar and ample comfortable lounge seating, across a wide area of locations, which offer different ambiences on two levels, but rest assured the waiter level service is fast, polite and efficient, you don’t have to wait for your next drink for long! Unlike some other venues in Belek. Every night there is some sort of live music in the Ella Fitzgerald, classical, pop, whatever floats your boat there is something to enjoy. Duets, trios or an entire bad, there may even be a solo performance too!

ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

In the main buildings which off shoot from the circular structured main building in a unique stylish fashion, where you walk through avenues of flowering plants giving that Serenity feeling, not prevalent in other hotels, blocks A and B offer a few different categories of bedroom.

Primarily you have the Superior Double rooms, which are the majority, these are all restyled and are spacious and well appointed, all with brand new big rain showers. The new look furniture and colour designs together with new beds and storage spaces, gives you a light uplifting ambience. All rooms have balconies, or patios, with garden and or sea views from the top floor (4th floor), some rooms also have sea views from the 3rd floor.

The Superior Laguna rooms are located on the ground floor and have lovely patios which have direct access to long Laguna Pools, which you share with other clients in the same room category. The A Block building has a freshwater Laguna Pool, whilst the B Block building has a sea water Laguna Pool. We love these rooms because you have the gardens beyond the Laguna Pool and they are extremely relaxing when sitting out on the Patios.

The One Bedroom Serenity Suites are located on high floors, as well as on the ground floor too and have more than double the size of the Superior Rooms, you have an extra toilet near the main front door, larger balconies and a lounge area also. The suites have 2 impressive Mirror TVs in both the lounge and the bedroom and comfortable furniture in the suite to relax in if you are not outside on the balcony, or patio. Some of the Serenity Suites will be sea facing on floor 3 or 4.

The Villas are split into 3 categories, namely the 3-bedroom Pool Villas, The 2 bedroom Garden Villas and the 3 bedroom and 4 bedroom Deluxe Villas which are farthest away overlooking two holes on the Gloria Old course. These have all had a substantial restyling as well to compete with the very best villas in the Belek region.

Special requests can be made for room locations such as sea facing high floors, but can never be guaranteed in advance, if you are a repeat, or multi repeat customer, there is no doubt that you will be given preference, which is only fair.

EVENING ENTERTAINMENT IS EYE CATCHING

Gloria Serenity Resort shares an Amphitheatre, which hosts many impressive shows on a nightly basis, with its animation team and visiting performing artists & guests taking centre stage. Although you may not wish to visit this spectacle every night, we recommend trying it at least a couple of times, there is always plenty of variety to enjoy, most shows start at 21.00 hrs,  post dinner. The Amphitheatre is shared with customers from the sister property, adjacent called Gloria Golf Resort and can accommodate 550 spectators, so it is impressive and al fresco also.

In addition, there are Beach Shows, which can be DJ shows, with great music for all age groups, or a live concert also, with well-known Turkish and European Pop Artists, or even Classical! These are all offered free of charge for guests within your hotel package. Furthermore, in the Lobby Bar there is nightly live music on a smaller scale, but equally fun and impressive. You can enjoy your favourite Gin & Tonic, cocktail or whisky nightcap, whilst watching some great music.

There are plenty of impromptu performances popping up all over the Resort, such as for example, the Singing Chefs who tour the buffet restaurant and sing some Italian Opera, it takes the breath away, or it could be a Magic Show instead!

THE ALL-INCLUSIVE CONCEPT

The Gloria Serenity Resort offers its customer the finest quality food produce, cooking quality and variety of cuisine or food and drink – it is impossible to say any other Belek Resort is better! In fact, over the entire 18-year period the hotel has been open, it has always excelled in this regard with consistent high quality. Although the hotel will have by June 23, 7 or 8 a la carte restaurant outlets, it cannot be overstated just how good the buffets are always, I would be entirely happy eating buffet every night her and I certainly would not elsewhere and I really mean that, especially if eating in the al fresco garden terraces, which are a major highlight too and with a variety of first class show cooking stations – with fish, seafood and plenty of meat options using their outdoor grills, brilliant. The only downside eating buffet of course is that one can often eat too much and put on the kilos!!

Unlike many of its rivals, Gloria Serenity does offer a number of a la carte venues, which are not demanding a cover charge, we think just the Japanese and Fuego Steakhouse will do so from June 23, but this may change slightly, as the new venues open up in June, the Chef’s Fine Dining venue will be completely chargeable, if you fancy pushing the boat out just 1 evening.

The drinks options are exceptional – the wide range of excellent liquor will surprise you and tantalise your taste buds, whether you love Gin, Whisky, Brandy, Martinis, Vodkas or if you prefer wines and or Cocktails. There are plenty of choices of premium brands and single malts. I can count at least a dozen I would adore to drink and that just Gin & Whisky options.

Turkish wines are now on a different level of quality than the last time we did an inspection, and you can enjoy a multi variety of grapes in red, white and rose. As regards international wine options – we are waiting for clarifications on what will be available as summer 2023 develops, perhaps not as many as were once available, perhaps caused by the massive inflation rate prevalent in Turkey currently. They are supporting their own wine makers, because they believe the quality has improved so significantly. Certainly, Gloria Resorts have never cut corners in the world of high quality in our long experience of working with the brand over the last two decades.

It is noteworthy that Gloria Golf Club now offers the Gloria Serenity customer free Food & Beverage during your visits to play the courses Old, New and Verde, so you can sit and relax for an hour before, or after your game to discuss the game played, or the game to come, without hurting your wallet at all! Most of the seating and tables are al fresco with superb view across the spectacular 9th and 18th greens of the Gloria New Course.

THE WORLD OF GLORIA GOLF COURSES

The Old Course at Gloria was the second course to open in Belek in the mid 1990s after the construction of the impressive National Golf Club in the western end of the Belek area.

The course is a classic design through umbrella pine trees, where a good score can only be achieved by precision play, there are plenty of gentle and subtle dog legs. The course has relatively small greens and that aspect of the game is tough – missing the greens can give you very challenging chip shots.

There is an ample amount of water and nothing is more difficult than the water in front of holes 1 and 2, where all carry is the only way to go to get your par, or birdie. The fairways of Gloria Old course are tight and narrow and it is very easy to clip an umbrella pine early or late in the flight of a well hit drive, if you don’t shape it just right.

The New Course is more forgiving and although it is laid out over similar land, it is a little more undulating and there is more movement in the fairways – little hillocks and more run offs taking your ball under the pines, but it does offer wider fairways targets and approach shots, perhaps also offering larger putting surfaces. You don’t feel so restricted basically and can open your shoulders on the tee shots. The course opened more than 10 years after Gloria Old and has much easier sand traps, quite often greenside the bunkers have no lips and using a putter can work well, unusual for certain! On Gloria New there are more fairway bunkers, which can make life trickier.

Gloria New has a wonderful finishing stretch on both nines – the 9th and 18th are awesome tee shots and second shots trying hard to stay out of the water hazards which dominate the climax to both nines. The par 3 17th however is the toughest tee shot of all, it is all carry over water and a wooden bridge, with trouble awaiting all but the perfect tee shot. Indeed, the New Course has a number of great par 3 holes as good as anywhere. Holes over valleys to raised greens, very pleasing to the eye and requiring a strong nerve to hit the green. The 15th being a brilliant example!

Please don’t avoid the 5th nine-hole layout – named aptly the Gloria Verde, it is not the poor cousin, but in terms of maintenance and style of holes through umbrella pines of equal standing.

Special mention finally to the practice amenities at Gloria Golf Club, which are probably the best in Belek, whether it be the short game areas, or the driving range, it is no wonder that more Pro Groups stay here than anywhere else, plus it is all managed brilliantly by ex Tour Player David Clare, who has now been Director of Golf for 20 years at Gloria. He has given extensive Short Game Tuition himself to two famous OPEN Champions – John Daly and Darren Clarke! Gloria Golf Club has an excellent Pro Shop but you cannot pay for items using your room card, it has to be paid directly as it is owned by a different Company.

THE SPA AND LEISURE FACILITIES

Gloria Serenity has an incredibly impressive indoor heated pool , complete with wooden decking, wonderful spa treatment rooms and massages and very professional Therapists, also for Beauty Therapy, as well as massage. The environment is lovely with a strong Buddhist ambience. These amenities are supplemented well by very good Hammam Steam rooms, Finnish Saunas and Turkish Baths as well as Jacuzzis.

Make sure you book your treatments at the earliest possible moment of your holiday, or even before it starts, to avoid disappointment.

GROUP DISCOUNTS

Make sure that you book as a party of 8 with any combination of 4 couples, 8 ladies, or 8 men!! By doing so you receive 1 in 8 free, not just on the hotel costs on all-inclusive, but also on the green fees, so an immediate saving of 12.5% – this type of discount is not valid in too many places these days, especially Post Covid.

Indeed, this group offer can also be combined with early booking offers, which can be as high as 25%, not to be sneezed at and we agree that it quite right to offer the early bird customers the best price as a reward, or the group organiser a reward for finding 3 other couples, or 7 other men, or women to make up the magic 8 number!

These prices have not been released officially, but for any customer booking before 29 May 2023 for Spring, Summer & Autumn 2024, we can guarantee a one off deal for you on a customised basis only.

There is no doubt however that prices in Belek including Gloria Serenity are going up 20-25% because of the major reinvestments, but also because of the high rate of inflation in Turkey and the increasing costs of F&B produce and staff cost increases caused by inflationary pressures. However, no other country in Europe can rival the quality of the all-inclusive concept in Belek and particularly at the Gloria Resort venues, especially Serenity!

Once again, I personally had a wonderful trip to Turkey.

Everything was perfect from the minute I boarded my Jet2 ‘plane. Great flight, Matrix Travel are professional & reliable and I had the same Driver as last time. Unfortunately, his English is as bad as my Turkish so we laughed a lot.

As big as the Gloria Serenity is, you feel that you are staying in a small resort as it is so welcoming and friendly. I love All Inclusive ……..it just makes it all so much easier and stress free. My room was amazing. I was supposed upon check in , to stay in this room for one night and then move to the 4th floor for the remainder of my stay but I elected to get unpacked and stay put. The newly refurbished rooms are beautiful although I grew to love my ‘ old ‘ room and the previous layout and decor. Totally relaxing and very comfortable, lovely little patio with view and of course, the shower was always a highlight of the day. Clearly a lot of money has been spent on bells & whistles in the rooms with automatic action upon the press of a button and of course, the television embedded in the mirror……..all very nice & upscale.

The Food, Service……..totally first class. Everyone works their tails off. Never made it to the Spa this year.

On the golf side, again, warmly welcomed by everyone. The facilities, golf courses, practice areas, everything first class. I particularly enjoy the Patio at the Golf Course to hang out in the lovely sunshine and eat & drink. Again, this now being part of the All-Inclusive Package was welcomed instead of like last year, people were heading back to the Hotel after Golf as
‘ it was free ‘ so to speak. Being All Inclusive, it kept us together as a group to talk golf and enjoy each other’s company.

I could not be happier and hope to get back 2024.

Thank you for all that you do and for negotiating great rates for us for next year.

It was absolutely FABULOUS.

Overall, it was another, most enjoyable trip!

The BA flight times on Sunday and Wednesday worked really well, especially the return flight, avoiding late night/early morning return, as I was home by 18.00.

There were many highlights in the refurbished Gloria, but also some suggestions for improvements/adjustments that would improve the experience.

The service was OUTSTANDING, it felt like the hotel was running at about 40 to 50% capacity, with staffing levels consistent with 100% occupancy, and every staff member was extremely helpful and very attentive, especially in the restaurants and lobby bar. It was great to see familiar faces in the staff, meaning they have been retained and trained over the years.
I really enjoyed the experience with the lower occupancy levels, as the main restaurant didn't get as busy and you didn't have to fight your way through to the buffet. I worry a bit about what it will be like at full occupancy, maybe splitting it into two buffets (one outside, one inside) could help avoid congestion.

The dining experience in the fish restaurant was fabulous, especially since it was included in the all inclusive offering. The French restaurant was good, although as usual the service was slower. The addition of a mixologist was a welcome addition and he certainly put on a good show. My food was great, but one of our fellow guests had to send back her undercooked beef Wellington 3 times..... not what you'd expect!

I took the opportunity to have lunch in the restaurant across the river and it was a great menu and a very enjoyable spot for lunch, with great staff.

Overall, the choice and quality of the food available was outstanding, it felt like the quality had gone up a notch since our last visit.

On Saturday, some of us played the Nobilis, and while the course was great and in better condition than the Gloria courses, staff at the Nobilis are nowhere near as welcoming and friendly as at the Gloria, so we would not even stay for an after-round drink at the Nobilis.

The spa was lovely as always, and I did enjoy the outdoor wellness/exercise offerings, especially the flying yoga!

All in all, a very enjoyable, high-quality experience and I look forward to returning next year.

Another great trip to Belek fulfilling all the expectations raised for those who do not know the resort in your excellent comprehensive guide.

The food and service get better and better. They still seemed to be recruiting waiting staff - the girls mainly come from unpronounceable republics near Ukraine.

Enormous TV screen and day bed, best safe I have ever come across and excellent lighting. The only problem was that the controls are too small, too low and need getting used to. Jane gave us all an excellent guide. Again, a designer, not a user created it.

These are all minor quibbles in an excellent resort which gives value for money and which I shall be very happy to return to

Golf courses in first rate condition and having David there was a great bonus. I feel that we got preferential treatment. All the organisation is so smoothly and perfectly done throughout the trip.

Hope these comments are of interest.

Many thanks for arranging another faultless tour for us. We all had a great time and enjoyed the Gloria Serenity despite the building work. We would like to return next year to see the finished article, possibly in March 2024.

If the cost of Turkey proves prohibitive next year is there anywhere else you could recommend that offers a quality near that of the Gloria Serenity in Europe?  Verdura in Sicily comes to mind.

Anyway, thank you again. Your advice over the years has always been invaluable and I look forward to hearing from you.

Philip and I enjoyed a wonderful golfing week, Mickey and her team were amazing and the other golfers such great fun.

Serenity is taking shape and after enjoying many stays there over the past 10 years, we look forward to experiencing the new additions and upgrades the future.  Your review is excellent and so informative for new visitors to Gloria.

Our fellow golfers spoke very highly of you and I am sure Philip and I will be in touch regarding golfing trips to other countries ( I believe you are a marvel in organising where all else fail!)

Thank once again for ensuring a very smooth and stress free vacation.
