We have just returned from our luxury golf vacation to Dubai and Mauritius with Island Golf Holidays.

This is the third ‘ big trip’ that we have booked through David Sledmere and all three have been exceptional.

His experience and expertise in the travel industry and his love of golf result in tailor made experiences which fulfil all the requirements for discerning golf  and travel lovers.

Vietnam and Cambodia was a unique experience and Argentina including Buenos Aries, Mendoza and Patagonia was equally amazing especially given the rise of Covid and imminent lockdown. David managed to repatriate us from a locked down Buenos Aries on the last flight out in 2001!!

The most recent holiday was a fortnight in Mauritius with a 3 night stop over in Dubai at the excellent One and Only Royal Mirage Arabian Court taking in a guided Dubai Creek tour, visiting the Gold and Spice Souks and a round of golf on Jumeirah Estates Earth course. The transfers from airport to hotel and to golf were seamless and were provided by the excellent, on the ground in Dubai, Desert Adventures.

In Mauritius our hotels were superb and the two venue split of the fortnight enabled us to play 6 of the 11 courses on the Island with the pick being the outstanding Bernhard Langer designed Ile Aux Cerfs - boat ferry to the Island where the course lies and amazing beach and mountain views on almost every hole.

In the South the Heritage Telfair Hotel with its five restaurants ( Le Chateau the pick), and great ‘on the beach’ ( literally) location had The Chateau course and off site the brand new La Reserve, a testing examination of the best golfers ability and home to the upcoming DP World Tour AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

Moving to the East of the Island the Constance Prince Maurice was the best hotel we have ever stayed in, had a wonderful beach front location and two courses to play in the Links and Legends which host a Staysure Seniors Tour event. Mautourco, the Island based taxi and transfer operators which Island Golf Holidays use had excellent helpful, friendly and knowledgable drivers providing a guided service.

The Mauritian people are so happy and wherever we went the local people were friendly, helpful and welcoming to the visitors on their Island.

Confirmation of our satisfaction with all the organisation of Island Golf Holidays is evident in our booking of our holiday next year.

This is a phenomenal destination.
Our suite is fantastic and it was ready at 9am when we arrived. Ticks all our boxes. They cannot do enough for you. They even laid on a 6.30 individual shuttle for us, with prepacked breakfast, to enable to get an off first. That means a 3-hour round and back to PM for big breakfast.
The only slight issue is the restaurant service is sleepy and I’ve complained about positively and they say they will step up. I’ll let you know but no need for you to get involved. Your local agent rang us tonight to make sure we are all well and confirm the transfer to Heritage.

We spent an amazing September fortnight at Prince Maurice to celebrate my husband’s Big Birthday.  It was our best holiday yet and what a celebration!  This was our second visit and we were welcomed with open arms and like returning family.  Nothing was too much trouble…I’m tricky to feed but the chefs were patient, understanding and creative.  With 3 very differing restaurants…Archipel serving a mix of delicious seafood buffet, beach barbecue, and high class a la carte…the Asian offering excellent Indian and Japanese food and our favourite Le Barachois, a beautifully romantic “floating” restaurant reached via a stunningly lit pathway through mangrove trees and where, if you’re lucky, you may glimpse “Johnny” the shark…we were spoilt for choice.
We’re avid golfers and the 2 courses within a 15 minute shuttle were staffed by friendly and helpful coaches and the Legends and Links courses offered up enough challenges and stunning scenery to amuse and test us over several days of play.  The floral decorated golf buggy and Happy Birthday signage was the surprise icing on the cake. We stayed in a lodge on the edge of a picturesque lagoon and were blessed with stunning sunsets and moonlit waters.  A truly magical experience which we can’t wait to repeat.

We absolutely adored the Constance Prince Maurice from the charming staff with old-fashioned interest and courtesy to the wonderful under-stated opulence. First impression, our suite at Anahita is bigger, more contemporary, has a great balcony, views and facilities, but is somehow less welcoming and a bit less special.

 

What’s not to like?!

On our 4th golfing day - the courses have improved since we were last here - it’s a bit of a free for all if you have earlyish tee times but it sorts itself out.

The hotel is lovely…so much more peaceful than Constance Belle Mare.  The staff are so very friendly and helpful, the food is really good and despite my odd diet I’ve been well looked after.  We celebrated an Anniversary here and we were treated like royalty.  We ate on the floating restaurant and Johnny the Reef shark honoured us with his presence 3 times!
