GOLF HOLIDAYS IN ST LUCIA

St Lucia is an Eastern Caribbean Island, essentially a volcanic island, with dramatic tapered mountains, including the incredible Pitons on the south west coast, which are so beautiful. The Island has wonderful stretches of beach and especially from the mid-west up to the north west and the Cap Estate. The capital of the island is the Port Harbour town of Castries, where the Cruise Liners visit, whilst the most chic seaside town where there are some great restaurants is called Rodney Bay which is only 7 minutes by taxi from our hotel Cap Maison.

Our hotel Cap Maison is on the sensational Cap Estate in the north west which offers wonderful vistas from its cliff-top location, which is circa 70 minutes from the airport tucked away in the south of the island.

St Lucia has a varied and fascinating topography, big mountains, an extensive Rain Forest in the centre of the island, wonderful beaches, lush and green rolling vegetation. Opposite Cap Maison is the fascinating peninsula of Pigeon Island which has an intriguing history and outstanding vistas out to the Caribbean Sea.

The St Lucia Golf & Country Club which was redesigned by Greg Norman is only 7 minutes transfer from Cap Maison, a great test of golf but in the coming 12 months we are awaiting the opening of a superb new course designed by the Coore-Crenshaw partnership. This will be one of the world’s most dramatic and impressive golf courses, the designers have already said that the terrain is as impressive as Cypress Point in California and they have designed superb golf courses such as Bandon Dunes, Cabot Links & Barnbougle Dunes, sensational for sure.

FLIGHT INFO

The only airline offering direct flights from the UK is British Airways from London Gatwick, which (depending on the time of year) there are either 3 or 4 flights per week. British Airways offer 3 cabins on this service, World Traveller, Premium Economy World Traveller Plus and Club World. The flight time to St Lucia is circa 9 hours and Hewanorra Airport on the Island is a delightful small gateway allowing quick entry and exit possibilities!

WEATHER

Like most Caribbean Islands St Lucia has a perfect year-round climate with an average temperature of 28 degrees. March is the sunniest month of the year with an average of 10 hours of sunshine per day. Temperatures range from 22 degrees to 32 degrees year round. The best weather and dry season is between December to May with the less expensive wetter or more humid season from June to November. However you would still expect up to 8 hours of sunshine in the quieter low (wet) season.

CURRENCY

The local currency is the ECD the East Caribbean Dollar, although the US Dollar is widely accepted. There are about 3.75 ECD = £1.00, you can certainly tip in US Dollars if you prefer.
