GOLF RESORTS IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

The Dominican Republic is a Caribbean nation, that shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, to the west. It is known for its amazing pristine white sand beaches, touristic resorts and some of the most exhilarating golf courses in the world, with several winning big awards in the region of Latin America.

The terrain of the Dominican Republic comprises rainforest, savannah and highlands, including Pico Duarte, the Caribbean’s tallest mountain. Capital city Santo Domingo has Spanish landmarks, like the Gothic Cathedral Primada de America, which dates back 5 centuries in its Zona Colonial district.

We would highly recommend an excursion, with a guide to the capital Santo Domingo, giving you the opportunity to explore a very historic and beautiful city, which has so many interesting landmarks.

FLIGHT INFO

We would recommend two options for flights to Punta Cana airport, Virgin Atlantic and British Airways operate a great service from London Gatwick.

Both airlines offer three cabins, economy, premium economy and club class levels of service. If you are based in other parts of the country, there are charters into Punta Cana with the airlines, Thomson and Thomas Cook.

If you are staying at Tortuga Bay, you will receive VIP Fast Track Service on arrival at Punta Cana airport and we will be out of the airport and in resort within 1 hour normally, avoiding all the normal queues.

WEATHER

The weather in the Dominican Republic is at its best from mid-November to the middle of June. This is the driest part of the year and the peak season for golf and leisure. The east and south east part of the Dominican Republic boasts the best weather in the region in very sheltered parts of the island.

The temperature ranges from 35 degrees in the peak summer months to 22-25 degrees in the cooler months like October – November. Our advice would be to avoid October and November, which can be the tropical storm period – some years the weather can be fine, but there is more rainfall in these 2 months. The climate is so good for golf all year round, but the golf courses are not in as good a condition in the October, November months than at other times, which is noteworthy.

The currency of Dominican Republic is the Dominican Peso.
