DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

CASA DE CAMPO RESORT & VILLAS

five-gold-stars

RESORT OVERVIEW

Casa de Campo is one of the most fashionable places to live, or stay amongst the rich and famous from the USA and Latin America. It is so much more than a hotel, it is a way of life, a domain with great facilities and an amazing location for the avid sportsman seeking to combine relaxation, with great sports facilities and mouth-watering restaurants.

Casa de Campo lies close to La Romana on the south-east coast of the Dominican Republic, just under one hour from Punta Cana airport. The resort has hotel rooms, with a villa complex also, which are all very special and individually styled and furnished.

The hotel complex has a variety of bedrooms including the cheaper Golf Lodge rooms, but our packages are based on the true 5-star Elite Patio rooms, which are set on the ground floor, with Elite Balcony rooms one floor higher, with better views towards the Teeth of the Dog golf course. There is a superb Beach Club called Minitas, a yachting harbour, with some fine restaurants and bars, 63 holes of outstanding championship golf, including the finest course in the Caribbean – Teeth of the Dog and the beautiful 16th century style remodelled village called Altos Chavon, close to the Dye Fore clubhouse.
This medieval style village is on a hilltop with cobbled streets and some small shops, bars and restaurants overlooking an amphitheatre, where big music stars perform regularly from the UK and the USA.

As a resident of the Casa de Campo Resort, you are allocated a 4-seater buggy to get around the big Estate independently, up to the village, down to the beach club and to the golf clubs, it even comes in handy at breakfast time!

Director’s Tips – Enjoy the all-inclusive concept in the resort, which is what we have based our packages on, good wine, liquor and a fine array of cuisine at breakfast, lunch and dinner across a wide array of outlets. Enjoy some of the finest golf in Latin America.

Casa de Campo boasts 63 holes of stunning golf – there are three courses and two clubhouses. The Links and the Teeth of the Dog share the same clubhouse, whilst the Dye Fore course is up on the hillside, close to the medieval village of Altos Chavon, within the Casa de Campo Estate.

The Links 18 is the easiest golf course design set over mostly flat land, but with large greens and lots of water features, which make it tough nonetheless. It is a good warm up course, before playing the incredible layouts of Dye Fore and Teeth of the Dog.

The Dye Fore course was revamped entirely in 2014 and is back to its very best. The course is the most scenic course of the three and designed on high land with exhilarating views of the ocean, the hills and the spectacular river, which snakes its way down to the ocean below the course. Some of the holes indeed on the Marina nine follow the course of the river towards the sea on some spectacular downhill holes. The shot making on Dye Fore is so exciting, with such fabulous backdrops on every hole, especially on the original 18. Dye Fore has 27 holes, all of which will test your game to the maximum.

The Teeth of the Dog course is still ranked as the number one in the Caribbean, revamped in 2014-15 the course is also back to its best, no doubt that this is a true magnificent test of golf. One could argue that this is the flattest of all the courses, however the design is brilliant and Pete Dye excelled when he created this in the 1970s. The course winds its way through mature woodland and opens up to stunning ocean side holes, in fact there are 7 ocean-side holes, some on both nines, you are so close to the sea you can feel the spray on your face on the tees and greens!

As far as Casa de Campo is concerned, we had a great trip. As always, your planning on our behalf was excellent & everything went without a hitch. The weather was pretty good. We had a little rain but not for any length of time. The golf courses remain in excellent condition & we would have no hesitation in recommending the resort to fellow golfers. Excellent choice of eating venues as well & whilst being in a hotel, it is a totally different experience due to the size of the overall estate. You feel as if you are going out in the evening rather than just going down to a hotel restaurant. Thanks again for your excellent planning & for organising everything on our behalf.

      Hi David,

The hotel, resort, golf, location and weather are excellent, so glad we decided to stay here and would certainly like to come back.

The condition of all of the courses is exceptional, the greens are superb and of a very consistent pace which I think is incredible. Some of the views on the Teeth of the Dog are breathtaking.

All of the staff at the hotel, golf courses, beach bar and restaurants have been excellent.

We have had our evening meals at La Piazzetta, La Cana and La Casita, all of which have been very good. On my the days we had lunch, we ate at the beach bar, Lago and the 19th Hole, all good.

We did have a bit of an issue with the room on arrival, the guy who dealt with our check in didn’t offer us the upgraded room and was suggesting we had requested a twin bedded room. After discussion we did get an upper floor deluxe balcony room (438) which is very good. Plenty of wardrobe space!😎

It has certainly been a holiday to remember.

      Best regards

      Hello David
I am very very well thank you...hope you are too !
We are having a fantastic time here...love it 👍
The courses are brilliant...not a blade of grass out of place anywhere and awesome scenery to boot....what a place.  Elaine shot a gross par round yesterday on the Teeth of the Dog...so she likes it !!!!
The staff are looking after us very well and the food is great. The weather is excellent too nothwithstanding a daily short sharp shower which comes and quickly goes...quite refreshing really 🤣😂.
We just love everything about it here 😍

Thanks for checking...and swing easy in that breeze 🥴

Love your feedback - it is a brilliant place for great golf players, 63 wonderful holes on one Estate

      Hi David,

We had a great time in Dom Rep, thank you.

It was probably the best golfing holiday in terms of the collective quality of the courses, all of which were in tremendous condition. If we had to pick a favourite, I think it would be Corales, which hosts a PGA tour event in a couple of weeks time.

Both of the resorts were very good, offering different experiences. Most importantly for us on all inclusive trips, the quality of the food and wine was good* especially at the Bamboo at Tortuga. There were also a few food restrictions at Tortuga - see attached scan - and there was an extra cost for premium water at La Yola (which we contested and were refunded).

      * except at the Westin Brassa Grill

We had slight disappointments at each resort with the quality of the admin/ customer relations desk. Not the table/bar service which was good, but with table reservations, excursion info and general enquiries. The staff responsiveness was not 5*.

An example was restaurant bookings at CdeC, where we had 3 table cancellations For two of these we arrived at the restaurant, to be told that they were closed for private events. We did get an apology after the final incident.

If we had to pick a favourite resort, I think it would be Tortuga as this was quieter and more refined.

I hope this does not sound negative, as overall we had a FAB time and would recommend both resorts.

Many thanks for your putting together such an excellent itinerary for us.

      Best regards.

      John R

Hi John - thanks for your esteemed feedback - for me this is the best golfing itinerary we can offer anywhere in the World, absolutely stunning Punta Espada, Corales, Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore!

      Morning David

Just back from an excellent trip to Casa de Campo and thought I’d drop you a quick note to thank you for all your input.

The arrangements you made for us were superb and everything went like clockwork.

I will have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Casa de Campo and Island Golf to friends and colleagues.

All three courses were superb but I think The Teeth of The Dog just edged it. The seven holes alongside the Caribbean were phenomenal.

As for the dining experience, the main bar and restaurant known as La Cana adjacent to reception was excellent.

My only criticism was the fact that the mini bar in the room was not part of the all inclusive package. I thought this was rather odd.

All in all. An excellent break in glorious weather with exceptional service.

      Regards   Martin

Thank you for your esteemed feedback Martin. Casa de Campo is a great all inclusive golf resort with the most amazing choice of golf courses, my favourite is Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore! Some of the best golf in the Latin America region for sure.

Just wanted to tell you that we LOVE it here - totally amazing! We made the right decision about not going all inclusive as there are so many other choices and the prices are the same as we paid in Washington before we flew here. Such wonderful staff and the resort is gorgeous. Really having a great time.
