RESORT OVERVIEW
The Westin Resort Costa Navarino is located on the beautiful Peloponnese peninsula in south-west Greece, with many characteristics of an Island venue, indeed it can even be described as an Island, connected to the mainland of Greece in just 2 places, The Corinth Canal and the Bridge of Rio Antirio.
Navarino Dunes is fast becoming one of the IN places in Europe to take a golfing holiday, although it is relatively difficult to get there – especially if you are based in the North of England, or Scotland, but once you are there it has everything you could want to make the ultimate golf and beach resort holiday!
The Westin Resort Costa Navarino is on the Ionian Sea, near the small city of Kalamata and 3 hours south west of Athens. Navarino Dunes has a wonderful natural beach with golden sands and a great Beach Club, two magnificent and contrasting golf courses, designed by Robert Trent Jones and Bernhard Langer in different locations, with varied designs and outlooks. They are a perfect match, both with great ocean views of the Ionian Sea! The Westin Resort Costa Navarino has a wide array of accommodation and restaurants to cater for all tastes and budgets, we would highlight the Infinity rooms, which have plunge pools just adjacent to the terrace, or balconies, they are great value and well appointed.
Some bedrooms and suites are beach front in the premium categories. The Agora (like a Village Square), which is located between the Westin and the Romanos Hotel is atmospheric in the afternoons and evenings and even a good place to hang out during the morning with its cafes, delis and boutiques. We would highlight the Italian restaurant in the Square as one of our favourite venues, it overlooks a massive film screen which shows concerts and films you can enjoy at night. However, you can also enjoy great Lebanese, Japanese, Steakhouse and Greek venues not forgetting the excellent buffet, with its pool side al fresco areas, it is a great place to have breakfast also!
Take half board for £39 per night and you can enjoy fixed men choices at several restaurants and the sumptuous buffet also.
The Westin Resort Costa Navarino has a super Children’s Club, which is on one side of the resort, with a great array of activities including a water park – families would mostly be accommodated in this area of this big resort, and at the same time golfers would normally be allocated rooms on the other side, nearer to the beach and The Romanos A Luxury Collection Resort sister hotel. What makes Navarino Dunes special is that there are so many different places to eat and drink, or chill on the resort, it has huge variety and appeal. If you stayed for just one week, you would not see everything you need to see, it is noticeable just how many golfers are returning already for a repeat vacation. You can dine up at The Romanos Hotel a Luxury Collection Resort in their fish restaurant called Armyra, or up at the terrace of the golf club at Flame (an impressive steak house) – which overlooks the 18th green.
The Spa at the Westin Resort Costa Navarino is extremely impressive and well worth mentioning, for Spa lovers, this is a great amenity, whilst for the traveller who enjoys lot of activity there are great yoga, pilates and fitness classes, which are mostly free of charge for residents.
We would recommend half board for those people who enjoy staying only on resort as it will save you a considerable sum and still give you good flexibility across a few restaurants, not just the buffet. However, for those people who like being adventurous we would highly recommend sticking with bed & breakfast and exploring the seaside towns and harbours at Gialova and Pylos, there are some great venues and the value of dining out is exceptional and they are very unspoiled towns, with stunning outlooks.
