FUERTEVENTURA

SHERATON BEACH, GOLF & SPA RESORT

five-gold-stars

SHERATON FUERTEVENTURA OVERVIEW

The Sheraton is located on the east coast of Fuerteventura, adjacent to the seaside resort of Caleta de Fuste, which boasts an excellent beach, hotel guests can walk to this beach and to the seaside town beyond. The hotel is only about 15 minute’s transfer from the airport of Fuerteventura. The hotel is close to the ocean, but not on a golf course. The Fuerteventura course, which it owns, is a courtesy shuttle ride away – just a 5-7 minutes’ transfer, whilst the other course Salinas is about a 10 minute taxi ride away.

The hotel has lovely gardens and extensive pool areas, which extend right down to the beach and there is a special access secure gate onto the beach. It is worth noting that this hotel is popular with families as well as golfers, especially from May to half term in October and of course Easter. In the winter golfing months less so, obviously.

The hotel has up to 4 good restaurants and an excellent spa (Hesperides), with 2 main bars.
Our golf and spa weekly packages are good value for money, as you are allocated deluxe sea view rooms, receive a spa entry and can play a total of 5 rounds of golf, including 1 round on Salinas. At Fuerteventura you receive both free trolleys and range balls, plus a courtesy shuttle service from the hotel lobby. The Asian Wok N Zen and El Faro are notable a la carte venues, which specialise in Asian fusion and Spanish dining,

Directors Tip – You can also choose an unlimited golf package, for just about £40pp more, or mix your golf up and play 3 rounds/2 rounds combination for a similar upgrade price. You can also choose to stay on b&b for about £20 per night less.

The Thalasso Spa is special, with the best amenities and treatments in Fuerteventura. There are 12 treatment cabins and there is a wide array of hydrotherapy. Book your treatments on day 1 or 2 of your holiday, as the Spa is very popular and good.

If you are taking the golf & spa 7-night package you are allocated one of the best rooms in the deluxe sea view category, which are located on the mid to higher floors of the hotel. If you fancy a little more space, why not upgrade to a junior suite sea view. The deluxe rooms are 49 square metres and the junior suites 70 square metres.

Every room is allocated a balcony with sea view, sitting area with a sofa, bathroom with separate shower and bath, hair dryer, make up mirror, double granite sink, special Heaven Mattress on beds, Canarian style décor. Free WIFI in rooms and public areas.

There are two golf courses included in the golf & spa programme 7-night package. Fuerteventura Golf is owned by the hotel owners and is a lovely palm tree flanked style course, which epitomises good fun holiday golf. The course is flat for the first nine holes and gets hillier on the back nine, well-manicured and offers some elevated tees later in the round. There is enough water features to keep you focused and there are in fact three separate lakes, which come into play on the front nine. You face the ocean at the start of the round, through to hole 10, which changes direction. An exhilarating course and very playable, but if the wind blows it gets tough. Difficult to lose balls here. Special golfing clinics are bookable here, with the resident professional – ask for details.

Salinas, the other course, which is 10 minutes’ drive away is closer to the ocean and has larger greens and deeper bunkers than Fuerteventura, it is a nice contrast to play as it has a very different terrain and is more links style, with wider fairways. Courtesy shuttle runs to the Fuerteventura course only.

Enjoyed our holiday, good location, food to die for, plenty of sunshine, but felt the hotel was looking a little tired. Still hope to return, same time, same place next year. (hopefully)

      Hi David,
      We really enjoyed the break.
The flights were good. The standard leg room was more generous than most , the loading process outwards was very good , staff friendly and every thing went to plan. The loading process coming back was slow as they only used the front door, through a tunnel. The flight back arrived back early because of a tailwind , great.
The pick up transfer was late but we rang the hotel and they sorted it. All the staff at the airport wanted to help when they saw us waiting. We were the only people in the small coach, both ways. Quick transfer in comfort.
The hotel was lovely and staff were all excellent, friendly and wanting to please. Our room was a good size and very well equipped. The gardens, swimming pool area and option of sitting places were lovely. Our bedroom had lost the sun by the afternoon but we were able to find other good places to sit and read etc.
The breakfast choices were superb, everything we could think of and was excellent. The opening times were also good.
In terms of the cuisine, we had three dinners in the hotel. We were impressed with the range of food in the buffet restaurant but we found the "hot food "was only lukewarm. We then had two nights in the a la carte which were good  in terms of service and quality . The starter portions were large and so one would need a healthy appetite to eat a three course meal every night. The quality was very good but some choices were very rich. We did prefer the a la carte but I guess that is just personal choice. Reception did us a deal for three consecutive nights which worked really well when we had first arrived. We then found the vast range of restaurants in Calete de Fusta.
The golf was what we expected and we really enjoyed it. We were paired up everyday and met some really nice people from Germany and Scotland. The only downside of the golf were the bus transfer times. There was a big gap between the 9:10 a.m. and 10:45a.m. pick ups from the Sheraton. Our first tee time was 11:10 but the golf club changed the time to later to fit round the bus times. However, the taxis were cheap as an alternative.
Overall, a lovely holiday and if we go to Fuerteventura again we would certainly stay at the Sheraton. It was a shock coming back to the rain and then snow!
Thank you for your excellent services, which we will certainly use again.
      Regards
      Keith and Yvonne M

Thanks for your feedback Keith, much appreciated, this is the best value Sheraton in the Canary Islands!

      Hello David

Yes we were glued to the golf Sunday - do good to see Rory winning again - hopefully the Masters will be within his grasp this year?

We had a great holiday. The staff at the Sheraton are amazingly good - so friendly and always concerned that everything was good for us. Our suites were lovely thank you.  Local restaurants were variable - Volcano fantastic first time we went but not the second. We found KM Zero was also a good one. In the hotel the free buffet meal we had was very average so we didn’t go again, but we really enjoyed the Wok’n’Zen a la carte restaurant.

Overall really enjoyable holiday and we will definitely go back again.

Thank you for organising it all for us, much appreciated.

      Kind regards
      Jill

Thank you for the feedback Jill, the Sheraton is a good honest 5 star, and exceptional value year round - located very close to the golf course at Fuerteventura and one can walk into Caleta del Fuste from the gardens of the hotel onto the sea promenade

      Hi David

We really enjoyed the trip thank you, the Hotel was excellent, the service, food, facilities and location ticked all of our boxes.  We would certainly recommend the Hotel.

The golf arrangements were also great, the course was good and proximity to the hotel was good,  very helpful staff and flexible with tee off timing, maybe because you had sensibly arranged afternoon times, but nevertheless they were helpful.  Sarah is a beginner but never felt under pressure and really enjoyed the experience, in fact if anything we were slightly held up by a 4 ball one day, which really didn't matter to us in the slightest, in fact it rather gave Sarah a little confidence, knowing that others can be slow!!!

So to summarise overall very happy with all arrangements,..., Would we go back?    Yes definitely!

      Kind regards

      Jeremy
