TENERIFE

HOTEL LAS MADRIGUERAS GOLF RESORT & SPA

five-gold-stars

RESORT OVERVIEW

Las Madrigueras is a small refined boutique golfer’s hotel, just situated above Las Americas and Los Cristianos, the hotel is just a 15 minute from Tenerife South airport, overlooking from high terrain the Las Americas golf course  the coastline and ocean beyond. It is only a 3-5 minute’s taxi ride down to the coast.

The main attraction of the hotel is it is a very quiet secluded property, it has large spacious superior bedrooms with nice generous balconies. Many of the rooms overlook the pool and gardens of the hotel with the sea in the distance. The hotel owners also own the golf course Las Americas and all customers are allocated their own buggy, which is kept in the hotel and you can drive directly to the clubhouse, via a private buggy path through the gardens.

The hotel has wonderful sun terracing and one can dine or take breakfast al fresco, most probably all year round, because it is so sheltered. The gardens are magnificent, with some rare tree species from Madagascar and the pool and sun bathing areas are just perfect, because they are so private and secluded. Enjoy the special Eagle Golf packages for 7 night stays, which include unlimited golf and 3 a la carte dinners. The staff at Las Madrigueras we rate as some of the friendliest personnel we know, in any of our European hotels.

Small spa facility with sauna, gym & jacuzzi. Outdoor Pool. Bogey a la carte restaurant. You receive 1 massage treatment on the Eagle Golf package. Sun terracing. Piano bar.Extensive garden area. 44 superior rooms & 13 suites.

The superior rooms are large at 40-50 square metres, most with lovely views of the pool, golf course, or ocean. If you upgrade to junior suites, this increases to 75 square metres and you have a lounge area, in addition to the bedroom. There are several excellent suites, which go up to a maximum size of 150 square metres.  All rooms have a large balcony, free WIFI, writing desk, mini-bar, satellite TV, pillow menu and 24 hour room service.

Las Americas Golf is adjacent to the Hotel and owned by the same company, therefore special resident times are held back in the mornings for Madrigueras guests, exclusively. The golf course is set over rolling land, quite hilly at times, most holes are surrounded by trees or shrubs, which are very colourful, it really is a very pretty golf course year-round. The greens are small, which makes the short game tricky. It is not a long golf course, but is very enjoyable and very playable, offering many elevation changes and special views down to the ocean. Water features on several holes, but it is not a big threat. Tee times are bookable at the time you make your hotel reservation. Hotel guests are allocated their own buggy and can drive themselves in 3 minutes straight to the clubhouse. Playing as a two ball here is often possible.

Dear David

Yes, we had a great time - obviously mainly due to the planning! You could not have improved upon the weather.  Twenty three / four each day.

Would recommend a night at the Gatwick Hilton, the main restaurant gave us a surprisingly good meal

Airport assistance worked well at both ends. Coming back at Tenerife, it was very Spanish. - lots of loud noise and chatter with the feeling that one might have been forgotten and little room to wait at the departure gate. But it all worked in time. Gatwick was first class out and in bound. A very distant gate at midnight would have been difficult.

Hotel 5 star and no complaints. Great buggy park in the basement. Golf course OK for holiday golf, but would have been better if we had spent one day at a different course.

Happy New Year to you both

John

Thanks for the feedback John, glad that you enjoyed your first stay at Las Madrigueras. Next Xmas will get you a round on the Abama course.

We loved the Hotel Madrigueras and met lots of nice people. The staff were excellent and all in all, a lovely place to chill out. Bogey Restaurant was first class, and some really good restaurants in the surrounding areas.

Thanks for the feedback and glad we got you home just a few days before the enforce lockdown in Spain and the Islands

Hello David,

We cannot believe our luck with the weather, it was perfect in both places.  Our last round (Saturday) at Tecina was stunning, bright blue skies, fractional breeze kept the temperature from rising too high, and we virtually had the course to ourselves, and the only sounds were birds singing (and maybe the odd swear word)!

Not a drop of rain, temps in low twenties, no wind to speak of.

All the travel went without a hitch, could not fault anything.  We appreciated Gold Class on the ferry, away from the hoards of hikers and all their gear.

Las Madrigueras was very good as usual, we appreciated the three meals thrown in, and enjoyed going out the other days.  We found a very good, relatively new restaurant in Los Cristianos called Taste Sin Gluten, I recommend it.  Chris is intolerant of wheat, and she could eat anything without worrying.

Thanks for the input John, Las Madrigueras continues to the ultimate boutique golfer's hotel ideal for the Senor's Market, with direct buggy access to the first tee on a secret residents buggy path with electronic gates through the hotel gardens and the best tee times possible every day of the year!

Hi David

All elements of our holiday were excellent. Jet 2 were certainly a step up from Ryanair and the flights were on time and the transfers worked well. The driver was punctual and helpful.

Madrigueras was excellent in every aspect from the staff, the room and the food. It is certainly a big plus to pick up the buggy at the hotel. We both thought the course was very good but never really mastered the greens!

The weather was generally sunny during the day with some cloud at times. The temperature was usually 19-21C.

We visited a mixture of restaurants from middle eastern fusion to out and out meaty Spanish with a little French thrown in. The taxi rank down from the hotel (200m) shaved 3€ off the fare compared to the hotel booking! We went to La Caleta once to a fish restaurant called Salistre which was not so good in terms of staff and food - should be avoided but was a hotel recommendation.

If I think of anything else I’ll be in touch. Many thanks for your organisation and I look forward to seeing you in March.

Best wishes.

Alan

Thanks for the feedback Alan - the hotel is expensive during the winter months but top quality with the idyllic buggy arrangement and easy access to the course on a private path through the hotel gardens.

The hotel is a boutique gem, with German service quality. No noisy groups , no kids, plenty of v comfortable chair beds. Great food; buggies easy and efficient with no formalities - just grab one with universal key. Gate straight through to the course wonderful. We rented a car, organised by the hotel so delivered there (so much better than typical slow airport pick ups). Pool at 30 Deg C.

We had lunch at the Abama where the staff showed us around by buggy. We were of course very impressed but it made us value the more the intimacy etc of Madrigueras.

Our hotel was better than its very built up surroundings, with a population of other hotels (and guests) generating unwelcome amplified noise.

The local course is not a gem. Perfectly good for us (high handicaps) but occupying a very tight and overbuilt site, with no good views.

If a group from my own golf club, Denham, considered Tenerife it would naturally opt, I think, for the Abama.

All of your admin (eg ground transport, check in data etc) worked perfectly. Well done and thanks.

RP

Thank you for your feedback Richard - the hotel has been long established as a little gem, adult only, boutique and high service levels, well managed by the likeable Wolfgang Pollinger and his team.

You’ll be pleased to hear that our party of four have had a wonderful stay in Tenerife this last week. We return this evening. You were right about how well thus boutique Hotel is run. Quite outstanding. The rooms 33,34, were perfect. The golf great fun. We rented a car for four days so were able to do a tour including taking a look at the Abama and riding the cable car to the volcano. It was great to have the hotel organise delivery and collection of the vehicle at the hotel; a welcome alternative to airport car hire misery...
