Mauritius is a tropical island in the south west corner of the Indian Ocean situated well off the eastern coast of South Africa, it is located east of Madagascar. The flying time from the UK is just over 12 hours from London and there are direct flights with British Airways from Gatwick with 3 cabins – Economy, Premium Economy and Club World. Whilst Air Mauritius offering brand new planes from April 2019 now have direct flights from London Heathrow with superb Business Class cabins and seating, their revamped and stylish Economy cabin continues to offer free golf club carriage. For customers located elsewhere in the UK we would recommend flying via Dubai, with Emirates, or via Paris with Air Mauritius.
Mauritius is blessed with incredible weather 10 months a year and golf can be enjoyed in perfect temperatures, we would only recommend avoiding June and July although June can be OK. It is a tropical island, so it does rain, but in the coastal areas it rains scarcely and in short tropical bursts, the central mountainous parts of the Island can see rain all year and is a totally different climate to the coastal areas.
Golf can be enjoyed on any of 8 impressive 18 hole courses, with a choice of Mont Choisy, Tamarina, Paradis, The Els Course at Anahita, Ile aux Cerfs, Belle Mare Links and Legends! Not forgetting the excellent Avalon Course up in the hills above Bel Ombre.
Our selection of resorts is mouth-watering, and every corner of the Island has its own unique beauty and spectacular scenery, beaches and golf courses.
Belle Mare Plage and the Heritage Resorts are the best known of all with the UK golf visitor, but we must highlight the other options, which are equally spectacular and offer great golfing options too. Watch out for Anahita, Trou aux Biches and Shangri-La Touessrok they are superb resort venues.
