This exquisite boutique golf hotel is a Relais Chateau property, set amid the world famous Palheiro Gardens, high up in the hills, 1,500 foot above sea level looking down on Funchal, on the enchanting Island of Madeira, adjacent to the superb and picturesque Palheiro Golf Club. The resort is just 20 minute’s transfer time from the airport and 35 minutes’ transfer to Santo da Serra Golf Club.
The building has a history going back 200 years and is fascinating, with the detail of the restoration into a hotel in the last century, it is a gorgeous property in all aspects, ideal for a couple seeking a quiet and secluded vacation in the most idyllic and picturesque surroundings. A holiday here is all about nature, fauna, great cuisine, top service levels and awe inspiring scenery and golf.
The hotel has three wings, the old house, the golf wing and the garden wing, with a variety of room categories, which are all individually styled in a classic and in some rooms contemporary styling. Notably the hotel does a special offer in the superior golf wing rooms and suites from May to September, which is free daily golf! Saving over £250 on green fees. As the weather from May to September is great this is some offer!
The old-world charm of the hotel is exceptional and hard to compare with any other hotel in our programme. You can use the restaurant in the golf club, which boasts the best views in Europe down to Funchal and of the ocean, or the hotel restaurant. The Spa is extremely well appointed, offering free entry for all residents to the wet areas with an indoor pool also.

Directors Tip – Consider travelling in the May – September and receive free unlimited golf in certain room categories, dine out in Funchal a couple of times as it is a wonderful experience and taxis are cheap and quick! A courtesy shuttle runs on request to Funchal and the Golf Clubhouse.
